Our story
ScandyLand started because of a suitcase.
Every trip back from Sweden, the same ritual: half the case is clothes, the other half is candy. Bags of sour skulls for one friend, Ahlgrens bilar for another, a wall of Marabou for the office. Every time, the same question on landing — can you bring more next time?
Eventually the answer was: let's just ship it properly.
What is lördagsgodis, anyway?
In Sweden, candy isn't a guilty pleasure. It's a scheduled event.
Since the 1950s, Saturday has been lördagsgodis — Saturday sweets. You take a paper bag, you walk the pick & mix wall, and you fill it with whatever you want. No negotiation, no portioning, no guilt. Once a week, total freedom of choice.
It's a genuinely lovely idea, and it produces genuinely excellent candy. Swedish sweets are less sugary-sweet and more interesting than most: properly sour, salty liquorice that fights back, foam textures you don't get anywhere else.
What we actually do
We buy the real thing from Scandinavia and send it to your door. No grey-market repacking, no mystery boxes of whatever was cheap that week.
- We pick, not scrape. Every product here is something we'd put in our own bag.
- We label the heat. Sour is a spectrum, and "sour" on a Swedish packet means something. We tell you where each one sits.
- We flag the gelatin. Vegan and gelatin-free options are marked, so you're not reading Swedish ingredient lists in the checkout queue.
- We ship fast. Orders leave Sweden within 24 hours on weekdays, because nobody wants to wait two weeks for sweets.
